Utter Motorsports KICKS off 2007 Season in ARIZONIA! Written By: Utter Motorsports (January 29th, 2007) -- Jason Utter and the Utter Motorsports team headed to Casa Grande, AZ to kick off the 2007 race season. The Wild West Shoot Out took place the week of January 12 – 21. For more information on the event visit www.centralazraceway.com. January 12 – Practice day January 13: Utter started the 2 nd heat race with a great jump when the green flag flew, only to be recalled due to a car spinning on the back stretch. The green flag flew again and Jason Utter powered his P & L Transportation, C & R Pork Farm #31 car around the 3/8 mile track to pick up a 7 th place finish. Utter then tried his hand at the last chance race to pick up a 4 th place finish, which would land his #31 in the B main. Utter started the B main in 24 th position and would finish the night with a 15 th place finish, just short of starting the main event. January 14: The weather dipping down to 16 degrees overnight made for a chilly day of racing. Jason would finish 2nd in his heat race. Utter would start the B main, finishing in 5 th place. Utter started the feature in the 24 th position and would move thru the field to finish the night with a solid 8 th place finish. 73 cars were on hand. January 15th: Jason would celebrate his 27 th birthday with a great meal at the famous T-BONE steak house in Phoenix. The Utter Motorsports crew, Lloyd Kenney, Steve Sajak, Curtis Carey, Bob and Nance Utter would celebrate with Jason. January 17 th: The Wild West Shoot-Out, Wednesday night show saw 51 cars on hand. Utter started the 3 rd heat and lead for a pair of laps. The 31 machine picked up the 2 nd spot in his heat race. Utter was ½ point short of making the main event. The 31 P & L Transportation, C & R Pork Farm, Monte Carlo started on the pole of the B-Main to finish 3 rd to Matt Miller and Kelly Boen. . The track locked down half-way thru the feature event. Utter pulled in on lap 25 to pick up the 22 nd position. January 20 th: Welcome to Arizona. We had the treat of racing on a southern dry-slick track. The track took rubber in the heat races; needless to say it was like watching a train all day long. Utter missed the set up for his heat race and would have to run the last chance consi. The 31 called it a night with an 8 th place finish in the consi. January 21: The sun was out for a short time and then the rain set in. Yes, it was a cold rain, but at least it was not snow like back home. The races were cancelled due to rain. “It was a great experience and I was able to try some different set-ups. I would like to thank all my team for hanging in there with me. It was great to have Lloyd Kenney from P & L Transportation make the trip with the team. The crew of Steve Sajak, Curtis Carey, and my father did a great job. A special thanks to Jeff Roby who stopped by for a couple of days to help us out. I am looking forward to the 2007 race season and the sponsors of the 31 car are outstanding.” stated Jason Utter. #31 Sponsors: THANK- YOU P & L Transportation – Aledo, Illinois C & R Pork Farms – Iowa City, Iowa Cox Design and Fabrication, Altoona, Iowa Farmers Implement – Washington, Iowa Brown Bros.
