Race Report: July 2nd-5th, 2008

7/14/08 -- The Utter Motorsports team kicked off July invading the great state of Nebraska for the World Dirt Race League series races. Jason Utter powered the Wegner power plant #31 to a 10th place finish at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska on July 2. 72 cars were on hand; Utter would win his B-main and started A- Main in 18th place.

July 3rd: the action turned to Eagle Raceway, Nebraska. This was Jason’s first time at Eagle but was able to find the fast lane. Utter’s #31 C & R Pork, P & L Transportation, Mastersbilt by Mars timed in 3rd fastest and picked up an eighth place finish in the Main event.

July 4th: Spencer, Iowa would host their first ever WDRL race. The Utter Motorsports had a full night of racing on tap. In the heat race the #31 collected the #99 of Frank Heckenast Jr. as the #99 spun in corner 4. Utter finished his heat in 4th place. The Utter Motorsports team assessed the damage and decided to bring out the back up car. Jason would start in the rear of the field. Utter being cautious, as this was the first time this car has been out this season, decided to run the bottom line. The other competitors were on the high side. Utter finding something down low, gradually moved forward. Lap 35 #31 was passing on the inside for second place when Denny Eckrich blocked Utter on the low line ending the night for both. Utter finished a disappointing 18th place.

July 5th: West Liberty, Iowa The action was exciting as Brain Harris, Chris Simpson and Utter challenged for the lead, slicing and dicing between the three of them lap after lap, until Simpson tagged the wall removing the air off his back wing. Harris and Utter pulled away from the field. Utter brought home 2nd place, Harris picked up the win.

The #31 team will return to action this Saturday night at the West Liberty Raceway, West Liberty, Iowa
